We like to start Saturday morning’s with an intentional slow down. This is a “scroll down memory lane.” It’s just a simple look back at events that happened on this day in history before we head out to make new history today. So, grab your favorite sippin’ drink and let’s scroll!

Today is Saturday, November 22nd, the 326th day of the year.

On this day:

In 1954, the Humane Society was founded.

In 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated while riding in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas. Governor John Connelly was seriously wounded. Vice President Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as President a short time later. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the shooting a few hours later.

In 1963, Author C.S. Lewis died at the age of 64. He is well-known for writing the series “The Chronicles of Narnia.”

In 1986, Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight boxing champion when he knocked out Trevor Berbick in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 20-years and four-months-old at the time. In 1997, INXS singer Michael Hutchence was found dead in a hotel room in Sydney, Australia. He was 37.

In 1995, the first feature-length film created solely computer-generated images, “Toy Story” is released.

In 1998, CBS’ “60 Minutes” aired a videotape of assisted-suicide advocate Dr. Jack Kevorkian injecting lethal drugs into terminally ill patient Thomas Youk. Kevorkian was later convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to prison. He received parole in 2007 and died in 2011.

In 2001, Mary Kay Cosmetics founder Mary Kay Ash died on this date at the age of 83.

In 2005, veteran ABC newsman Ted Koppel signed off from “Nightline” for the very last time. The 65-year-old journalist retired after hosting the show for 25 years.

In 2017, a scandal involving personal information of 57-million Uber users is confirmed by Uber. The company said it paid 100-thousand dollars to keep the scandal quiet.

In 2018, as a part of the ongoing 20-year project to stabilize the Leaning Tower of Pisa, its tilt is reduced by four centimeters.
