Medicare Open Enrollment Begins

Medicare Open Enrollment begins October 15, 2025, and runs through December 7. This annual window gives people the chance to review their current plan, compare alternatives, and make changes that better match their health needs, medications, and budget. With insurers able to adjust benefits, premiums, and provider networks each year, taking time now to make informed choices can make a big difference in 2026.

“In the past year, many beneficiaries have experienced changes in medications, providers, or health needs,” said Ingrid Kundinger, Wisconsin Senior Medicare Patrol Program Director. “Open Enrollment is your opportunity to ensure your plan still works for you. Reviewing your options now could save money and help avoid gaps in coverage.”

Kundinger emphasizes caution during this period. “Be wary of phone calls, emails, or TV ads that promise deals that seem too good to be true. Scammers often target Medicare beneficiaries at this time.”

For unbiased help, Kundinger recommends calling 1‑800‑MEDICARE (1‑800‑633‑4227) or using the Medicare Plan Finder online. “And if you suspect wrongful enrollment, questionable billing, or other suspicious activity, the Wisconsin Senior Medicare Patrol is here to help,” she added. “We provide education, resources, and a confidential toll-free helpline at (888) 818-2611.”
