WI Has Higher Alcohol Related Deaths than National Average

A new study finds that alcohol-related deaths in Wisconsin are higher than the national average.

The Wisconsin Policy Forum found that the number is lower from last year, but continues to be significantly higher than pre-pandemic numbers. Wisconsin’s alcohol-induced mortality rate in 2024 was 18-point-two per 100-thousand residents. Nationally, the rate is 13-point-nine per 100-thousand residents, which is lower than Wisconsin’s pre-pandemic rate.
