Chippewa Sheriff’s Office Warns of Bail Scam

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office received information from a complainant that someone pretending to be an employee of the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office contacted them requesting that one of their relatives needed money to be released from Jail.


Due to State Statutes, victim notification systems, and the interest of public transparency, inmate
rosters are easily accessible. If you are contacted by an individual claiming to be from a law enforcement
agency, and they’re requesting financial payments, please politely end the call and contact the Sheriff’s
Office in which the caller stated the individual was in custody at. That County would know if a bond
were valid.


Should anyone claim to be a representative of the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and ask you to
