From Chills and Thrills to Giving and Running for a Cause, CV Museum Plans Fall Fun

Fall is here, and the Chippewa Valley Museum has some scary good programs for you.

Monster Monday, Monday, October 13, 4-7pm

Join us October 13 for some monstrously good family time. Bat Ambassador Heather Mishefske, a Wisconsin Master Naturalist, is swooping in to take us to the Bat Cave for a special presentation at 4:30pm or 6pm.

Fuel up with complimentary pizza and then head to the ice cream parlor to purchase some sweet treats. Keep the fun going with superhero bingo, a scavenger hunt, and monster and bat-inspired artwork. Special guests include the ArtMobile and the Pablo Center’s Robotics Team.

While you’re here, visit the new exhibit from SuperMonster市City!, “America’s Monsters, Superheroes, and Villains: Our Culture at Play.” Stay tuned for more Monster Monday fun November 10, 2025 and December 8, 2025.

Allegedly Collectable, Tuesday, October 14, 6-7pm

If you love Star Wars and science fiction figurines from the past four decades, you don’t want to miss this program. Allegedly Collectable owner Chris McHugh will talk about his passion for collecting action figures and musical memorabilia and give you tips on developing your own personal museum. Chris has a vast and fun collection of toys, video games, models, and more at his store. And if you still haven’t found the perfect item, ask him about his storage unit!

Check out the America’s Monsters, Superheroes, and Villains: Our Culture at Play from SuperMonster市City!, while you’re at the museum to see even more fun artifacts. The presentation and the exhibit are included with museum admission.

Skelebration, Saturday, October 18, 2-5pm

The Chippewa Valley Theater Guild and the Chippewa Valley Museum are partnering to conjure up a ghoulishly fun family-friendly event you won’t want to miss. View vintage Halloween cartoons, take a flashlight scavenger tour in our outdoor logging buildings, cozy up to enjoy s’mores, choose a design for a professionally painted face by Donna from Paint Me First, and catch a live performance of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” at either 3pm or 4pm.

Inside the Chippewa Valley Museum main building, check out the new exhibit from SuperMonster市City!, “America’s Monsters, Superheroes, and Villains: Our Culture at Play.” Explore the Bat Cave with Wisconsin Master Naturalist Heather Mishefske at 2:30 or 3:30pm, and head to the I Scream parlor for chillingly delicious ice cream treats.

This Halloween celebration is packed with thrills, chills, and plenty of fun activities. Enjoy a magical autumn afternoon with just the right amount of spookiness!

American Red Cross Blood Drive, Monday, October 20, 10am-4pm

Donors are needed! Sign up today to help save up to three lives and tackle the national shortage. Donors will receive a $10 e-gift card to choice of merchant sent via e-mail PLUS an automatic entry to win one of three $5,000 gift cards! And that’s not all. Big Ten fans can register their blood donations at BigTen.org/Abott to claim a Big Ten t-shirt and help their school win $1 million grant for student health.

Carson Park 5&10, Saturday October 25.

The 57th Annual Carson Park 5 & 10 will take place in Carson Park the last Saturday of October; this is

Western Wisconsin’s oldest running event. The Halloween-themed competition features a 5K, a 10-mile, and a kid’s Boo-gie run. Enjoy the scenic trail through the park, starting at the Wisconsin Logging Museum.

There will be a Halloween costume contest, complimentary drinks for adults, medals for the kids, and prizes for top age group finishers. Post-race activities include free museum entry, beverages, and train rides for kids in costume.
