Proposed Fees Open for Public Input

Proposed Fees Open for Public Input

Proposed new fees for farm animal truck drivers in Wisconsin could increase by up to 16-hundred percent.

If approved, a Class-A license would go from 420-dollars to seven-thousand-430-dollars.  The Wisconsin Farm Bureau says the increase will make its way through the supply chain to make putting meat on the dinner table more expensive.  The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture says current fees aren’t covering the high cost of animal disease and safety controls.  The Department is asking for public input on the proposed fees during hearings on September 11th, 16th, and 17th.  Written comments will be accepted through October 15th.
