The Eau Claire Fire Department (ECFD) responded to two fires Monday evening.
The first was a structure fire in a detached garage on the city’s North side. The fire was quickly brought under control and was contained to the front portion of the garage. Truck 8 was the first arriving apparatus.
The second was an appliance fire on the city’s West side. The home was filled with smoke and the occupants evacuated prior to arrival. Engine 9 was the first arriving apparatus; the fire was extinguished and the home was ventilated to remove the smoke. One person was treated and released on the scene after being evaluated by ECFD paramedics for smoke inhalation.
