EC Crews Respond to Fire on Mary Street

A fire causes an estimated $550,000 in damages.

The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 4154 Mary Place at 10:06 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Eau Claire Police officers arrived first on scene and reported heavy fire from the rear of the residence. The first-arriving fire unit, Engine 9, confirmed a working fire involving one side of a wood-framed, side-by-side duplex with flames and heavy smoke showing.

Crews initiated an aggressive interior fire attack while also protecting the adjoining unit. Firefighters advanced multiple hose lines, established their own water supply, and performed ventilation operations. Despite fire extension into the attic space, suppression efforts successfully prevented the fire from spreading into the attached unit.

Searches of both units were conducted and confirmed that no occupants were inside. The sole occupant of the involved unit had safely exited before fire crews arrived and was later transported by paramedics to a local hospital for evaluation.

After extensive overhaul and extension checks, the fire was declared under control. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist displaced residents from both units.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Eau Claire Fire Department’s Fire Inspector. Responding Units:
