Dane County health officials have reported the county’s first case of West Nile Virus in 2025.

It’s the fourth human case in Wisconsin this year.  Public Health Madison and Dane County said Thursday that the highest risk for the illness happens in August and September.  Officials recommend wearing long, loose fitting clothing to prevent bites, and advise getting rid of standing water to prevent mosquito pools.
