Trial Pushed Back in Case of Murdered UW Gymnast

The trial dates for a man charged with killing a UW-Whitewater gymnast last year are being bumped back to next year.

The trial for Chad Richards was originally set to begin in December.  However, jury selection is now scheduled for June 8th, with the trial set to start June 9th.  Richards is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the shooting death of Kara Welsh in August 2024.  Prosecutors say the pair were in a relationship at the time of the incident.
