WI Mosquitos Test Positive for West Nile

Mosquitoes collected in Rock County have tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The Health Department says it’s the first time the virus has been found in the county since mosquito surveillance began last month.  West Nile Virus spreads to humans through bites from infected mosquitoes, and can cause serious illness including symptoms like high fevers and tremors.  So far this year one human case of West Nile Virus was reported in Barron County, and mosquitoes have also tested positive in Milwaukee and Lafayette counties.
