Storm System Brings Heavy Rain, Closes WI State Fair

A storm system is bringing a flood threat to parts of the upper Mississippi River Valley this weekend.  Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in the region.  Areas between Des Moines and Chicago are forecast to see the worst of it, with parts of Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri and Iowa all on watch for excessive rainfall.  Some thunderstorms may be severe with heavy winds and tornadoes possible as well.  The flood threat is expected to last through Monday.

The weather affected the state fair.

Wisconsin State Fair officials say flash flooding closed the fair yesterday. The Lynyrd Skynyrd concert was also canceled. Tickets booked through Etix will be automatically refunded. Those that paid cash can get a refund at the cash office. Sunday is the last day of the fair and there are possibilities of heavy rain.
