Lawmakers are reintroducing a bill aimed at cracking down on dairy labels.
The “Dairy Pride Act” would require the Food and Drug Administration to enforce rules reserving terms like milk, cheese and yogurt for dairy products coming from animals. Producers of alternative milk products would have 90 days to comply with new labeling standards if passed. The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association and the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation are among the bill’s supporters.
