Mental Health Treatment Ordered for Suspect in Firearm, Disorderly Conduct Case

Mental health treatment is being ordered for a man charged in connection with an April incident at Putnam Heights Elementary School in Eau Claire.

Reports say that 33-year-old Andrey Sichuga, frustrated at not having been hired for a job, showed up at the school armed with a gun.  No one was hurt but Sichuga was charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds, resisting an officer, and disorderly conduct.  A court on Monday determined that the defendant was not competent for trial.  Hopes are that he will regain competency during treatment and proceedings will be able to resume.
