Eastbound Interstate 94 is fully closed at mile marker 48 in Dunn County due to a two-vehicle commercial motor vehicle (CMV) crash that occurred earlier today.
According to reports from the scene, a CMV traveling slowly on the shoulder was struck from behind by another CMV. One of the vehicles subsequently caught fire. While all occupants are out of the vehicles, a passenger has reported minor injuries. Both CMV units sustained serious impact and fire damage. Wisconsin State Patrol officers on scene have established a re-route for eastbound traffic at exit 48 to exit 52 along Highway 12/29.
Heavy wreckers have been dispatched, but troopers are estimating approximately a 2-3 hour closure of the interstate to clear one lane of traffic. The Wisconsin State Patrol is being assisted by the Dunn County Sheriffs Office, Dunn County Highway Department, and Dunn County Fire and EMS services in responding to this incident. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and expect delays.
