Deadly Springbrook Crash Under Investigation

On July 19, 2025 approximately 9:25 PM, the Dunn County Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a single vehicle accident on 960th St south of 1010th St in the Town of Springbrook. It was  further reported that the vehicle was on fire and there was a lone occupant.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Elk Mound Fire, Eau Claire Ambulance and Dunn County First  Responders, responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Deputies located a 1961 Jeep in the ditch that had  struck a tree. The fire was put out by bystanders and the damage from that was contained to only a tire.  The vehicle had substantial damage and the operator was entrapped in the vehicle. He was found to be  deceased upon arrival of First Responders and Deputies. The operator was a 36-year-old male from the  Durand area. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Preliminary investigation showed the jeep was traveling southbound on 960th st. The vehicle appears to  have had a mechanical failure that caused the operator to lose control. The vehicle then entered the ditch  on the northbound lane side of the road. The jeep partially rolled and struck a tree before coming to rest  on it’s wheels.

The Dunn County Medical Examiner responded to the scene and pronounced the driver deceased.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the Dunn County Medical  Examiner’s Office.
