The deceased individual from this crash is identified as 78 year old Dale Soltwisch, of Fall Creek. Soltwisch was the lone occupant of the vehicle he was operating and was traveling eastbound on HWY 12.
The driver of the second vehicle involved was 38 year old James Jones, of Eau Claire. Jones had turned west onto HWY 12 from Green Meadow Rd and turned into the oncoming lane, striking Soltwisch’s truck head on. Jones was arrested for Knowingly Operating While Suspended Causing Death. He was also issued traffic citations for several other violations.
The Sheriff’s Office sends its condolences to the family and friends of Mr Soltwisch.

On Saturday July 19, 2025, at about 12:45 PM the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a crash at the location of Hwy 12 and Green Meadow Road, east of Fall Creek. The initial report was that two vehicles were involved in a head on collision and there were multiple injuries resulting from the crash.
When Deputies arrived on scene, they found the entire highway was blocked by the two vehicles involved. Medical attention was provided to all occupants of the vehicles, and five individuals were transported to the hospital.
Later in the day, hospital staff informed the Sheriff’s Office that one occupant involved in the crash had succumbed to their injuries.
As of now, the crash is still under investigation and names are not being released.
