A new study by LendingTree factors in metrics like the average amount spent on housing, debt-to-income ratios, and the number of maxed out credit cards. Madison ranks third most financially responsible, with Des Moines, Iowa, and San Jose, California, tied for first. Minneapolis came in at fourth.
