A Labor Day weekend tradition in Eau Claire is moving forward with help from the L.E. Phillips Career Development Center (CDC).
Recently, CDC formed a partnership with Special Olympics – Eau Claire Adults 3-06 to organize the Buckshot Run and add a new chapter to its decades of history at Eau Claire’s Carson Park. Registration is available for the 2025 event at bit.ly/buckshot25. The two-mile run/walk will take place on Saturday, August 30 at 9 a.m.
The first Buckshot Run was in 1982. Bob Lesniewski, who was running Special Olympics in 18 counties in western Wisconsin at the time, came to Leader-Telegram sports writer Ron Buckli with the idea to organize a run. Its purpose was to raise awareness of and funding for Special Olympics.
