High temperatures and heavy rainfall has cut Wisconsin’s strawberry season short.
Farmers at Bures Berry Patch say an abundance of heat ripened their strawberries too fast, resulting in rotting fruit. Heavy rains from mid-June also brought over five inches of rain to the farm, flooding parts of it. Ed Bures says his farm’s waterways were able to minimize damage. The Bures are now focusing on other crops like sweet corn, green beans and red potatoes.
