Speeding Leads to OWI

Stephen Travinski, 21 years of age, from EAU CLAIRE, WI has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16.

A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper had just finished a traffic stop on Hastings Way when he observed a vehicle northbound at a very high rate of speed. The Trooper conducted a traffic stop on that same vehicle. During contact with the driver he observed indicators of impairment and the driver’s 4-month-old infant held in the lap of the front passenger.

An investigation was conducted including standard field sobriety tests and a warrant was obtained for a legal blood draw. After the legal blood draw was completed at a local hospital the driver was transported to the Eau Claire Count Jail and charged with OWI-1st offense with a minor in the vehicle, child endangerment/neglect, violation of child safety restraints, and speeding.
