The Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a two vehicle crash on County Highway P near 17th Avenue.
It was reported that one vehicle was on fire, on its roof and becoming fully engulfed. The driver of that vehicle was injured but crawled out of the passenger side of the truck. A Cumberland P.D. Officer was the first to arrive on scene and pulled the subject away from the burning vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was not injured. A synopsis of the crash is as follows:
A pickup truck pulling a dump trailer, driven by 62 year old Michael Wallace, of Springbrook, was southbound on County P. Another pick-up, driven by 26 year old Oscar Ledesma, of Cumberland, was traveling north and crossed the center-line, side swiping the other truck and then striking the trailer causing the truck to roll over and land on its roof. The vehicle then started on fire. There is suspected alcohol use of the driver of that vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation by the WI State Patrol and the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.
