A fifth person is dead after a Milwaukee apartment fire on Mother’s Day.
Four people are critically injured, and hundreds are displaced. Calls came in reporting the fire at the building on 27th and Highland at about 8 a.m. yesterday. Some people were trapped in their apartments and were preparing to jump from their windows to avoid the flames and thick smoke. West Allis and Wauwatosa fire crews helped Milwaukee firefighters extinguish the fire. Both the State Fire Marshal and the FBI are investigating the cause of the fire. Red Cross is assisting those who are displaced.
