On Saturday April 26th the Menomonie Police Department was alerted to a social media post that threatened a potential school shooting at the Menomonie High School. The subject who made the post was subsequently interviewed and taken into custody. During the course of the investigation, the female who posted the message did not have any plan or intentions on following through with what was posted. Officers on scene did not locate any weapons and it was reported that the subject did not have any access to firearms.
The individual faces charges of Terrorist Threats and Unlawful Use of Telephone, pending review by the Dunn County District Attorney’s Office. The female subject and her parents were both cooperative with law enforcement.
Based on the results of the investigation, there is no reason to believe that there is any danger to the Menomonie School District as a result of these comments.
