With less than one hour to go before NFL draft selections began, the campus around the Lambeau area was at capacity.
NFL Commissioner Roger Godell announced at the beginning of the draft that over 125 thousand people were in attendance. The NFL and the Packers were only expecting around 80 to 90 thousand people for night one.
The Packers set up overflow inside Lambeau Field for people to watch.
When it comes to action on the field, for the first time since 2002, the Green Bay Packers selected a wide receiver with their first-round pick.
The Packers selected Matthew Golden, a receiver out of Texas University. Golden caught the attention of scouts at the NFL Combine when he ran a four point two nine 40-yard dash. That was the fastest time out of all wide receivers. The Packers will have two picks tomorrow night in rounds two and three. The draft resumes tomorrow at 7 p.m.
