On Wednesday April 23rd, at approximately 10:33 AM the Eau Claire Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke and fire visible in an apartment at 920 Richard Dr. ECFD fire inspectors were first to arrive and reported little smoke but visible fire coming from a wall inside a second story apartment.
Truck 5 was the first arriving fire crew, made entry, aggressively opened the walls and found heavy fire within the wall cavity extending to additional apartments. The fire was knocked down with a water extinguisher and extinguished with hose lines. Secondary crews ventilated the apartments and completed searches of the remaining apartments.
Several apartments had significant damage due to smoke, water and fire. Residents of those apartments were evacuated and assisted by the Red Cross.
No injuries have been reported at the time of this report.
