The City of Eau Claire is letting residents know about an upcoming survey. Below is the information:

As part of the City of Eau Claire’s commitment to maintaining safe and healthy neighborhoods, all residential properties are surveyed once every five years. The city is divided into five areas, with one area surveyed each summer by a Neighborhood Services Specialist.
The Putnam Heights Neighborhood was last surveyed in 2020 and is scheduled for its next survey this year, in accordance with City ordinance. Surveys are expected to begin this week.
During the survey, the Neighborhood Services Specialist will conduct a block-by-block walking inspection to evaluate the exterior condition of all residential properties, including both owner-occupied homes and rentals. This evaluation includes visible elements such as the roof, siding, windows, foundation, fences, retaining walls, chimneys, sidewalks, and accessory structures like garages or sheds.
Once the survey is completed, the data is used to prioritize and direct the Eau Claire City-County Health Department to properties with the highest safety and health concerns. Homes identified as having health and safety issues are then inspected through the Eau Claire Housing Inspection Program (ECHIP), Chapter 16.08 of the Housing Code.

Our staff will remain in the public right-of-way and will not enter private property. All staff conducting surveys will carry a City-issued photo ID badge. You may see them in the Putnam Heights neighborhood through August. If you question if it is our Neighborhood Services Specialist is outside your residence, please call our office at 715-839-4961 to confirm whether a Specialist is in the area.
