On Friday, 04/10/25, at approximately 11:07pm, the Eau Claire Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near N Hastings Way and Eddy Lane in the City of Eau Claire. The vehicle was displaying license plates that didn’t match the vehicle they were on and it was known that the name associated with the registration was currently incarcerated. The vehicle began to flee and a pursuit was initiated. ECPD Officers continued to pursue throughout northside neighborhoods and eventually terminated the pursuit as it entered the Village of Lake Hallie in Chippewa County.

By this time, Deputies from the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office had become involved and continued the vehicle pursuit, which eventually made its way back into the City of Eau Claire on N Hastings Way. During the pursuit, multiple deployments of tire deflation devices were successful. A Sheriff’s Deputy, who is certified in the use of the Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) was able to successfully use the tactic to stop the suspect vehicle temporarily on S Hastings Way and Clairemont Ave. After a moment, the suspect then began to drive away again northbound. Deputies and Officers were able to box the suspect in on N Hastings Way near Birch St, where the suspect stopped. After a short standoff, the suspect eventually followed commands to exit the vehicle and was taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as Andrew Premo, 35yoa, of Chippewa Falls. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded 41 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging material, prescription medications, marijuana, and several items of paraphernalia.
The Sheriff’s Office arrested Premo and booked him into the jail on the following charges:
- Knowingly Fleeing an Officer
- 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety
- Possession w/ Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession of Illegally Obtained Prescription
- Possession of THC
This incident was a joint effort by the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office, Eau Claire Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Altoona Police Department.
