On Sunday March 23rd, at approximately 1:56 p.m. the Eau Claire Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 412 N Barstow St. Engine 2 was the first arriving unit and found smoke coming from the first floor apartment with a small fire located in a bedroom.

The fire was quickly extinguished using a water extinguisher while secondary crews conducted searches to ensure all occupants were out of the structure. Search crews did locate 2 cats and safely removed them from the apartment. Crews also worked to ventilate smoke from the residence and completed an overhaul of the area to ensure the fire was extinguished.
No injuries were reported at the time of this release. The occupants were relocated and the fire is currently under investigation
