The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that 20 middle school students have been selected as finalists for the 2025 National Civics Bee®.
These students, representing DeLong Middle School, South Middle School, NorthStar Middle School, Ladysmith Middle & High School, Somerset Middle School, Colfax Middle/High School, and Durand-Arkansaw Middle & High School, were chosen from a highly competitive pool of essay submissions. Their strong civic engagement ideas and thoughtful solutions to community issues have earned them a place in the next stage of the competition.
Organized in partnership with The Civic Trust® of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the National Civics Bee® challenges students in grades 6-8 to identify a community issue, propose a solution, and highlight the individuals or organizations that could collaborate to address the problem. Essays were required to incorporate at least one Founding Principle and one Civic Virtue, as outlined in the 2025 National Civics Bee® Essay Guide.
The top 20 finalists will now advance to the next stage of the competition—a live competition at Delong Middle School in Eau Claire on April 12th, 2025—where they will test their civics knowledge for a chance to win prizes. The first-place winner will receive a $500 cash prize, and the top three finalists will move on to the state competition in Madison, hosted by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce.
