Federal Funding Connects DC to Dairyland

When it comes to federal funding and the Dairyland there are some recent connections.

First, the USDA is unfreezing its grant funding to The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association.

A spokesperson said the money will be used to reimburse dairy farmers and processors for Dairy Business Innovation Initiative improvements already made.  The grant money is worth about 29-million dollars and has impacted 420 businesses.  It has “helped to stabilize and strengthen our nation’s food supply chain and rural economies.”

Meanwhile, Federal funding cuts to education are top of mind for Governor Tony Evers.

He said “there are huge, huge programs that come out of the Department of Education that they’re thinking of getting rid of period, that will cause school districts to go to a referendum every year. That’s a guarantee.”  The Governor spent Friday reading and speaking with third and fourth grade students at Sunset Ridge Elementary School in Madison.
