Traffic Stop leads to Felony Drug Arrest 

On February 26, 2025, at approximately 5:07 p.m., a Lake Hallie Police Officer, observed a  green Toyota Camry without a rear license plate on South Joles Parkway at Farm & Fleet. The  officer activated his emergency lights and stopped the vehicle at the Goodwill Store, 2759 South  Prairie View Road, Lake Hallie. The driver, identified as Shannon Lechleitner (46 years old) of  Stanley, WI, gave inconsistent explanations of the ownership of the vehicle. The passenger was  identified as Pamela Herfel (58 years old) from Thorp. Lechleitner wasn’t making sense during  the conversations with the officers and displayed indicators of possible drug use. 

Based on a probation search and consent, the officer located a small baggie with crystal-like residue inside a pocket of Lechleitner’s purse. During a further search of the vehicle, the officer found a black Radnor sunglass case under the front passenger which contained two small plastic  baggies containing approximately two grams crystal like substances, a used smoking pipe and  two burnt pieces of straw which, based on the officer’s training and experience, was suspected  methamphetamine and items used to smoke methamphetamine. Lechleitner and Herfel were  placed under arrest for Possession of methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia  (Methamphetamine) and Lechleitner was charged with Felony Bail Jumping. Both were transported to the Chippewa County Jail for processing.  

Upon arrival at the Chippewa County Jail, Herfel was placed in a room with Chippewa County  Deputies for processing. Prior to the body scan, Herfel turned over a small plastic baggie  containing approximately three grams of crystal-like substance from her person to jail staff.
