Marshfield fire officials are looking for support from the community and asking for an increase in funding.
Since 2000, the number of emergency calls have increased to almost 50 percent. The new referendum will come at a cost as taxes will go up anywhere from 26 to 33 dollars. If approved, response times would be faster, and the department would be able to take more EMS and fire calls. Before the election in April, the city will hold three listening sessions in March for the public.
