The Chippewa Valley Museum is traveling back in time in the coming months.
Hey Kids, Grab Your Suitcase and Your Imagination to Travel Back to Eau Claire Eras of the Past. Experience traveling across the ocean to a new country; think about life in an 1860s log house without phones, televisions, or indoor bathrooms; spend some time on a 1920s farm; and explore an 1870s Victorian house.

Time Travelers: Kids Summer Programming 10:30 am – noon. Don’t miss our great warm-weather adventures for kids grades 1-5.
Week 1:June 25– Let’s Celebrate. Experience what it was like to travel to America and start a new life. The local Norwegian community is celebrating its 250th anniversary and the local Hmong community marks its 50th anniversary in Eau Claire. Learn more about these cultures through visiting our newest exhibit, listening to folk tales, creating rosemaling and paj ntaub art projects, and sampling lefse and eggrolls.
Week 2: July 10 – Pioneer Life. Get a better understanding of what it was like to live in an 1860s log home without modern appliances, lighting, or bathrooms. Watch a candle-making demo, and take home your own DYI kit to share with your family.
Week 3: July 17 – Fun on the Farm. Travel a century back in time and see how life on a farm worked. Pitch a round of horseshoes, and watch a butter-churning demonstration before taking a break for some yummy ice cream.
Week 4: July 24. Schlegelmilch Shindig. Explore a Victorian home searching for forgotten accessories. Play vintage lawn games and spend a bit of time on the porch enjoying lemonade and baked treats.
