The election on April 1 for the State Superintendent of Public Instruction is now set.
Voters in Wisconsin selected incumbent Dr. Jill Underly and education consultant Brittany Kinser in yesterday’s primary, with Sauk Prairie School District superintendent Jeff Wright coming in third. Underly has been the State Superintendent since 2021. She is supported by the Democratic Party, Kinser has the support of the Republican Party in the non-partisan election.

In a speech to Wisconsin lawmakers Tuesday night at the capitol, Governor Tony Evers highlighted his 2025 budget plan. Some of those highlights included a new tax bracket, property tax freeze, lowering health care costs and education. Evers also criticized the Trump administration for new tariffs. The budget will be hard to pass, and concessions may need to be made due to a Republican majority in both the state Senate and the House.
