Rising prices for eggs are hitting food pantries as well as family budgets.
Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin food resources manager Ian Steele says the price of eggs has risen for them by 66-percent in the last six months. WayForward Resources senior director of programming Meghan Sohns says the loss of American Rescue Plan Act money to subsidize the egg purchases has hurt them, as they now pay from ten to 25-dollars per case.
They add demand for eggs is also continuing to rise.
