Nearly a dozen people are displaced after a fire in Chippewa County. The details, as released by Sheriff Hakes, are below:
On Tuesday, 02/04/25, at approximately 2:57 AM, the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a structure fire at a 12-unit apartment complex located at 8984 Hwy 124 in the Township of Eagle Point. Upon arrival, deputies found the building partially on fire. Deputies and tenants were able to evacuate all occupants of the building. Two patients were transported by ambulance with unknown injuries. Red Cross responded to aid. At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all the fire and first responders that battled the fire in subzero temperatures to ensure the fire was extinguished and did not spread to any neighboring structures. A list of those agencies that worked the scene include but not limited to: Anson Fire Department, Bloomer Fire Department, Eagle Point Fire Department, Tilden Fire Department, Fire District Fire Department, Chippewa Falls Ambulance Services, Fire District Ambulance Services, Chippewa County Highway Department, and Excel Energy.
The American Red Cross will be working throughout the day, to ensure that the tenants find suitable arrangements.
Public Records will show that this building was the home to multiple registered sex offenders. As our Office and the Department of Corrections identify where those individuals are relocated to. The updated locations of those addresses will be provided to the Registry; and any public notification regarding relocation addresses of those individuals shall be provided at that time as well.
