Crews responded to a home fire on Kohlhepp Road as The Eau Claire Fire Department (ECFD) responded to a structure fire on the City’s West side this morning.
Engine 9 and Battalion 1 arrived to find smoke and fire in the basement; the home was occupied at the time of the call and evacuated prior to ECFD arrival. ECFD crews advanced hoselines into the basement and quickly extinguished the fire, containing the fire damage to a single room. Crews immediately checked for any fire extension beyond that room, finding none. ECFD crews searched all levels of the home to assure no occupants or pets were present.
Smoke was ventilated from the home with the basement sustaining some smoke damage.
No injuries were reported at the time of this release. The occupants are being relocated until a damage assessment is conducted and clean up can be performed.
