The first Safe Haven Baby Box in Northeast Wisconsin is now installed.
Howard Fire Rescue held a celebration on Saturday to introduce the device. Safe Haven boxes give mothers a secure place to drop off newborn babies anonymously and legally. The boxes are typically installed at fire stations and hospitals and they alert officials when an infant is placed inside. There are now a total of four Safe Haven Baby Boxes installed in Wisconsin. The first three are in Racine, Elkhorn, and Reedsburg.
