Wisconsin Public Service is sharing some tips for staying safe and saving on heating bills as much of the state starts the work week with bitterly cold low temperatures.
The utility provider says keeping blinds open can give your furnace a little bit of a break during the day by allowing the sun to add some warmth inside the home. WPS also adds that using an oven or other cooking appliance to try to heat your place is never a good idea and space heaters can be dangerous if used improperly as well. They say heaters should be kept six feet away from combustible materials like blankets and curtains and should always be plugged directly into the wall, not connected to extension cords or power strips.
