A man is dead after falling through the ice in Marquette County.
Emergency crews were called to Lawrence Lake around 10:00 a.m. yesterday on reports of the fisherman ending up in the water. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says the man was out on the lake in a UTV when the ice gave way. First responders attempted to rescue the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are not releasing his identity until family members can be notified. Officials are urging Wisconsin residents to stay off of frozen lakes and rivers until the ice is confirmed to be thick enough for safety.
