Plot Thickens for Library Funding

Public school libraries in Wisconsin are getting a record payday from the state. Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski last week said she distributed more than 70 million-dollars to school libraries from the state’s Common School Fund.

The Common School Fund is the largest pool of money for libraries in the state, and in some communities Godlewski says, it’s the only source of money. The money in the Common School Fund comes from the proceeds of federal lands given to the state, so far that money has grown to a billion-and-a-half dollars.
