Chippewa County says it’s seen just five overdoses in 2024.
The county’s health department says it continues to see fewer overdose deaths. In 2022, Chippewa County saw 10 ODs. The county saw 14 in 2023, but has seen just five so far this year. Public health director Brittnay Fortuna says it’s part of a national trend that they’d like to see continued. Fortuna says the drop shows that the work public health managers and advocates have been doing over the past few years is working.
