The man who gave Milwaukee Miller Park has passed away.
Former Republican state Senator George Petak passed away yesterday at age 75. Petak cast the deciding vote to build what was then Miller Park back in 1995. The vote, which included the five county sales tax, cost Petak his seat in the state Senate. The Brewers were among the many who took time to remember Petak yesterday. The team said in a statement that Petak’s support was ‘crucial’ in keeping the Brewers in Milwaukee. Petak said he did what he thought was right for Wisconsin with his vote for Miller Park, and acknowledged that some people thought him to be a traitor for it.
