Nationally, President Biden says yesterday’s school shooting in Wisconsin is “shocking and unconscionable.” Biden offered his condolences Monday to the victims at Madison’s Abundant Life Christian School, calling it unacceptable that we are unable to protect our children from the scourge of gun violence.
A teacher and a teenager were killed in the shooting. Two students remain in critical condition and four others suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The shooter, a 15-year-old-girl, reportedly took her own life.
Police last night identified the shooter as 15-year-old Natalie ‘Samantha’ Rupnow. She was a student at the school. Police say she walked into the school just before 11 a.m. yesterday and opened fire.
Police Chief Shon Barnes says he is aware of a manifesto that is making the rounds on the internet, but he’s not commenting on it. Barnes said they are working to find a motive for the shooting. He says they’ve been in contact with Rupnow’s parents, and said they are cooperating with the investigation.
