The YMCA of the Chippewa Valley proudly announces that Collis McCloud Jr., the Association School-Age Childcare Director, has been honored as one of this year’s Empowered Leaders Resource Network 30 Under 30 award recipients. This prestigious award highlights the incredible achievements of young leaders who are making an impact in their communities through the YMCA.

Collis McCloud Jr., originally from the Chicagoland area, has made Eau Claire his home after graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. A former college football player, Collis has translated his passion for team-building and mentorship into his role at the YMCA, where his influence has had a profound effect on both the organization and the community.

Starting as a Program Director at the L.E. Phillips YMCA Sports Center, Collis has risen through the ranks to oversee comprehensive Before and After Care programs across 15 sites, as well as managing robust day camp programming. Through his leadership, these programs have not only met but exceeded fiscal goals while maintaining the high-quality standards that the Y is known for.

“Collis’s dedication to youth development and his commitment to serving as a pillar of support for the children and families in our community is exemplary,” said Derek White, President & CEO of the YMCA of the Chippewa Valley. “His work goes beyond the walls of the Y; he is a true community leader, touching lives through his volunteerism and passion for mentorship.”

Collis’s involvement extends to coaching youth and high school football and contributing to the nonprofit Power of Perception, which provides mentorship and life skills classes to students of color. His commitment to nurturing potential and encouraging leadership among the youth is unwavering and serves as an inspiration to all.

As the YMCA of the USA marks the seventh anniversary of the 30 Under 30 awards, it recognizes the transformative impact young leaders, like Collis, have on the YMCA Movement. “This award is not just about the accomplishments of the individual but also about how we can support and foster the growth of our future leaders,” added Derek White.

Collis McCloud Jr. embodies the spirit of this award, demonstrating unwavering dedication to his community and continuously striving to address the pressing challenges in the Chippewa Valley. His story is a testament to the power of staying true to one’s values and the impact of leading by example.
