Selling beer at Badger football games meant fewer arrests and fewer tickets this year.
University police yesterday said citations at home football games dropped 20 percent this year, in part because the school started selling beer inside Camp Randall Stadium. Interim Police Chief Brent Plisch says fans understand they don’t need to drink as much before the game, so they drink a little less.
That doesn’t mean that fans didn’t drink plenty in the first year of beer sales. The university says fans drank three million-dollars worth of beer, wine, and seltzer during Wisconsin’s six home games this season.
