The Beloit is headed for the seas.
The Navy on Saturday commissioned the new USS Beloit. A number of Rock County veterans made the trip to Milwaukee to see the ceremony. The boat was okayed back in 2018, built up in Marinette, Wisconsin, and launched over the weekend in Lake Michigan. Eventually the ship will make its way to Jacksonville, Florida to begin its service. The Beloit’s commander says the spirit of Beloit is etched into the ship as a ‘community that has always risen in the face of challenge and adversity.’
