National Crash Responder Safety Week

News | November 19, 2024 | 0 | by Morgan McCarthy
National Crash Responder Safety Week

WisDOT is reminding drivers to move over or slow down as part of National Crash Responder Safety Week right now.

State law requires motorists to leave an open lane for vehicles with flashing lights that are stopped along the roadway or to slow down if changing lanes is not possible.  A total of 60 emergency responders were struck by vehicles and injured while working on the roadside across Wisconsin over the last five years.  Transportation officials are also urging drivers to avoid distractions, like cell phones, while behind the wheel.
