Changes on Tap for Local Favorite: Leinenkugel Brewery Set to Close

A long time local mainstay is leaving the landscape in Chippewa Falls.

No one is saying how many workers at the Leinenkugel brewery in Chippewa Falls will lose their jobs when the brewery closes, but lives will be affected after a business move was announced.

Molson Coors, which owns the Leinie’s brand, yesterday said it is closing the historic brewery in Chippewa Falls, and moving beer production to Milwaukee. The company says they are looking to ‘centralize’ brewing in Milwaukee. The Leinie Lodge, and the pilot brewery next door, will remain open. The closing is scheduled for January.
